Starting over is a challenge that we all face when something in our life ends. When one door closes, another opens. What we do to keep going forward and make ourselves productive is how we make ourselves feel good. That is what fills our heart with joy and puts a smile on our faces.
I retired from teaching in 2004 when I was in my early 60’s. As a kid, I did not know how creative I was because I was on an academic track in both high school and college. I never entertained the idea of picking up a paint brush because it did not fit in with my goals. My father did a few paintings, and I remember looking at them and thinking I could do that, which made no sense at all because I never picked up a brush. I must have said something because my daughter gave me a set of brushes when I retired, and that opened a new door, I started painting in 2004 and I am still at it!
I focus on what will pull you into my paintings, which are strong colors and universal subject matters. I use a lot of warm colors and autumn scenes, emotional love scenes, paintings that make you want to be there and some abstract scenes too. The interesting thing is that my journey is one of developing awareness, as every new chapter should be.
